Opoku Agyemang did not flee from Winneba market, publication false, baseless – Campaign team

The campaign team of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has denied claims that she was abandoned by market women during her visit to Winneba in the Central Region.
Contrary to reports suggesting that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang fled from the Winneba market, her team has dismissed these allegations as entirely unfounded.
In a statement released on Monday, 5 August 2024, the campaign team stated: “The publication is false, baseless, and a figment of the fertile imagination of its author.”
The team clarified that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang had a highly successful campaign tour in Winneba, within the Effutu constituency, on Friday.
“Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Friday had a very successful campaign tour of Winneba in the Effutu constituency. She visited market women in their shops and stalls at the Winneba market, and interacted with shoppers and lorry drivers, amongst others, amidst cheers and encouragement from the public,” the statement emphasised.
The statement continued: “She also drove through some principal streets of Winneba and was given a rousing welcome.”
During her visit, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed a well-attended rally at the Winneba Lorry Station, where she outlined the benefits of the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour Economy policy and introduced the upcoming Women’s Development Bank initiative, which aims to support about one million women in business.
The campaign team added: “At no point was the Member of Parliament for Effutu present at the same place and time that Prof Opoku-Agyemang was at the Winneba market.”
