Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the signing of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) peace pact as a solemn covenant, and not just a routine ceremony, as the party intensifies preparations for its presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Speaking at the peace pact signing ceremony at Alisa Hotel in Accra on January 22, 2026, Mr Akufo-Addo urged all presidential aspirants to respect the pact fully committing to unity and peaceful conduct before, during, and after the primaries.

The former president also charged the aspirants to accept the verdict of the polls on January 31, calling on them to uphold democratic principles and support the eventual winner, reiterating that the NPP is bigger than any individual aspirant.
