UE/R: Mahama orders rescoping of Pwalugu Dam

President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Finance to rescope the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project, incorporating it into his administration’s Big Push infrastructure initiative.
This move, he explained, is to ensure the project receives the necessary financial and technical attention to enhance agriculture, irrigation, and flood control in the Upper East Region.
Mahama made the announcement during his Thank You tour at Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga, where he expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and people of the region for their support in the 2024 general elections.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling developmental challenges in the region.
Addressing concerns about poor road infrastructure, Mahama highlighted the deplorable state of key road networks, including the Bolgatanga-Bawku road and the Bolgatanga-Wa road.
He acknowledged the hardships faced by commuters and assured residents that his government would prioritize their rehabilitation under the Big Push initiative.
“The people of the Upper East Region deserve better roads, and I want to assure you that we are determined to complete these projects to ease transportation and boost economic activities,” he stated.
Mahama’s Thank You tour has provided him with the opportunity to engage traditional leaders and citizens, reinforcing his commitment to bridging infrastructural deficits and fostering development.
Following his engagements in the Upper East Region, he is expected to continue his nationwide tour with a visit to the Northern Region.
