Veep participates in launch of KPIs for Ambassadors and Heads of Missions

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku, on Monday, September 1, 2025, joined the opening of the Conference for Heads of Missions and Orientation for newly appointed envoys of Ghana, where the government officially launched Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide the work of the country’s diplomatic missions.
The programme, hosted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was held under the theme “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda.”
In his address, President John Dramani Mahama charged the new envoys to project an image of Ghana built on economic diplomacy, integrity, professionalism, efficiency, and service.
He stressed that Ghana’s missions abroad must now operate with clear economic targets guided by the KPIs to ensure accountability and measurable outcomes in line with the Reset Agenda.
The President further outlined Afro-Pragmatism as the guiding philosophy of Ghana’s foreign policy, urging ambassadors and high commissioners to relentlessly pursue the national interest while fostering constructive international partnerships.
According to officials, this cohort of ambassadors will be the most well-prepared in Ghana’s history, having undergone intensive training and orientation in areas such as economic diplomacy, international etiquette, and mission management.
The preparation reflects the government’s commitment to aligning diplomacy with the country’s transformation agenda.
The launch of the KPIs and the orientation programme underscore the administration’s vision to reposition foreign missions as strategic drivers of economic growth.
By prioritising trade, investment, innovation, and service to Ghanaians at home and abroad, the reforms place diplomacy at the core of national development under the Reset Ghana Agenda.
