We’ll abandon Alan if he goes independent – Mpraeso MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr Davis Opoku Ansah, has declared that he and other lawmakers who supported embattled Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Special Delegates Conference will not follow him if he decides to form his own party.
Mr Opoku Ansah, who played an integral role in the Alan Campaign Team as one of its coordinators, emphasized his allegiance to the NPP and stated that his support for the former Trade Minister was motivated by his loyalty to the party.
He made these remarks during an appearance on Citi TV's Point of View show on September 6, 2023.
Sammi Awuku, the Campaign Coordinator for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, invited all supporters of Alan Kyerematen to join the Bawumia team as the November 4 election approached.
He stated that some supporters had already responded positively to the invitation, and they hoped that others would also join in.
The former Trade and Industry Minister announced his withdrawal from the NPP presidential race through a press statement, citing alleged unfair treatment of some of his supporters and a skewed process that favoured one aspirant, Dr. Bawumia.
With his withdrawal, the NPP is left with four remaining aspirants in the race: Dr Bawumia, Ken Agyapong, Addai Nimo and Afriyie Akoto.
They will compete in the party's primaries on November 4 to select the NPP's flagbearer for the upcoming elections against John Mahama.
