ravages NOBISCO girls’ dorm, forcing nearly 900 students out
Nearly 900 female students of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) have been left without accommodation after a devastating fire tore through the school’s girls’ dormitory on Wednesday afternoon.
The affected dormitory, which accommodates students from Aggrey, Arthur, Ali and Gbewaa houses, was completely destroyed in the blaze. At the time of the incident, most of the students were attending lessons.
Upon hearing of the fire, students hurried back to the dormitory in an effort to retrieve personal items, but the intensity of the flames made salvage efforts difficult.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service were dispatched to the scene and worked for several hours to contain the inferno before eventually bringing it under control.
No casualties have been reported, but the incident has disrupted academic activities and left hundreds of students in urgent need of temporary shelter and basic necessities.
