President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned the Koforidua Resource Center in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, 27 December, 2023.

The first Youth Resource Center commissioned forms part of the government's project to construct 10 Resource Centers across the country to improve on Sports infrastructure in Ghana by fostering physical and intellectual growth.

The facility contains FIFA standard football pitch, nine-lanes athletic track, a tennis court, a basketball court, a handball court, a volleyball court, a modern gymnasium, an IT hub, a counselling center, a contemporary restaurant and an entrepreneurship center. 

In 2018, the Government of Ghana cut sod for the construction of ten youth resource centers across the country with Dormaa, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Ho, Axim and Wa Youth Resource Centers are to be completed in the next few months.

The commissioning of the project was led by the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo.

The event also saw the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, the CEO of the National Youth Agency (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide, president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, among others.
