Ban ex-GFA officials from contesting new positions – Abbey Pobi

Sports News
Veteran football administrator, Jonathan Abbey Pobi has reiterated that all those who worked in the Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should not be allowed to run for the presidential slot of the football governing body.

Mr Pobi’s comment comes as football enthusiasts begin showing interest in running for the position.

Speaking to Class Sports in an interview, Mr Pobi said since Ghana football is undergoing some restructuring, there is the need to have an entirely new crop of managers.

“I have said that anybody who has ever taken tea or eaten with Kwesi Nyantakyi before should not try to pick a form to be an FA president because they are all out of coverage area since they were all with Nyantakyi for the past 13 years”, the bankroller of the now-defunct Neoplan Stars said.

“He was having a vice-president, ten regional football association members who happened to be executive members, 123 members who vote for him and he was working with all of them, so, they are all part of it.

“I think I should be made the chairman of the elections committee so that I will be doing the vetting and I think if I’m given that position, I’ll give Ghana a good FA president”, he stated.
