The Black Queens received a rousing welcome at Kotoka International Airport following their impressive bronze medal achievement at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Leading the welcoming party was Wilhemina Asamoah, Chief Director at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, accompanied by several technical directors.

They were joined by jubilant fans and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the team’s historic accomplishment.

In an emotional address, Madam Asamoah praised the players for their determination and resilience. “Ghana is proud to see the Black Queens make history again by securing another third-place finish at WAFCON, just like in 2016,” she said.

“This bronze medal is a testament to your hard work and dedication throughout the tournament.”

She also applauded Head Coach Kim Lars and his technical team for their leadership and tactical brilliance, which helped shape the team’s fighting spirit and strong performance.

“Your leadership has elevated the Black Queens and inspired belief across the nation,” she noted.

Madam Asamoah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the growth of women’s football. “Your success is a national triumph and a symbol of hope for young girls and women across Ghana.

With unity, passion, and hard work, we can reach even greater heights.”
