Black Queens name 27-player provisional squad for 2026 WAFCON in Morocco
The Ghana Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has announced a 27-player provisional squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco.
The squad comprises a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talents selected from clubs in Ghana and abroad.
Captain Portia Boakye leads a list of notable call-ups that includes Grace Asantewaa, Princess Marfo, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Stella Nyamekye, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Princella Adubea, all expected to be central to Ghana’s plans.
The list also features home-based players, including Cynthia Konlan Fiindib of FC Samartex Ladies, Osman Huzeima of Jonina Ladies, and Ajegipina Zakaria of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, underlining the continued contribution from the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
The Black Queens are set to return to camp shortly as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.
Ghana are in Group D and will play Cape Verde on 29 July, Cameroon on 2 August, and Mali on 6 August, with all fixtures scheduled at the Moulay Rachid Stadium.
