Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says he is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Frank Lampard and his Coventry City teammates after helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old striker played an important role in Coventry's successful Championship campaign, which earned the club promotion to England's top flight.

Thomas-Asante said he appreciated the support he received from Lampard throughout the season and revealed that his Coventry teammates also kept in touch during Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

"They've been in touch," he told ESPN. "When the games are coming, there'll be a little flurry of messages, which I'm very grateful for."

He said the encouragement from his teammates had contributed to his progress with the Black Stars.

"It's been such a successful year, and a lot of my teammates at club level are part of the reason why I've been able to come and play in this team and this squad," he said.

Thomas-Asante added that he spoke to one of his friends from the pitch after Ghana's last World Cup match and hopes to repay the support he has received.

"I called one of my friends from the pitch after the last game just to let him be there as well, but there'll be nothing better than to bring home some extra silverware for them," he added.

The striker was part of Ghana's squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars were eliminated in the Round of 32 after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia. He also provided the assist in Ghana's 1-0 victory over Panama during the tournament.

Coventry City will begin their Premier League campaign with an away match against Arsenal, with Thomas-Asante expected to feature in Lampard's side.
