FIFA WC 2026: Ghana will face England, 2 others as they are drawn in last group
Ghana has been drawn alongside England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L for the men's FIFA World Cup 2026.
The draw is currently underway at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, United States of America (USA).
The Black Stars must navigate this competitive group to keep their hopes of a deep World Cup run alive. Ghana’s best tournament performance remains the 2010 edition in South Africa, where the team came painfully close to becoming the first Sub-Saharan African (SSA) nation to reach the semi-finals.
The 2026 tournament will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This edition also features an expanded roster of 48 competing nations, up from the previous 32.

Ghana’s recent World Cup and AFCON outings were far from impressive — an uninspiring campaign in Qatar 2022 and a disappointing 2024 AFCON showing left doubts about Coach Otto Addo’s leadership.
However, performances improved significantly during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with Ghana dominating Mali, Chad, the Central African Republic, Comoros, and Madagascar in Group I.
Mexico vs South Africa will be the first of many games for what is to be the biggest World Cup yet on June 11, 2026.
