The 2025 Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) has officially been launched.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana (UG) basketball court, Legon, Accra.

A major highlight was the Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, attending.

During his address, he praised the ABF organisers, RITE Sports Services, for their work over the past five years, noting they had created a festival that not only celebrated sport, culture, and entertainment but also drove significant visibility for Ghana.

To further amplify this impact, he revealed that the GTA would organise a special tour for all international teams participating in ABF 2025.

The tour will expose visiting players and officials to Ghana’s rich history, cultural heritage, and top tourist destinations, reinforcing the country’s growing appeal as a sports-tourism destination.

He emphasised that the Ghana Tourism Authority was committed to supporting ABF with its full resources.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Africa Basketball Festival, and organisers have adopted a special Five Theme to celebrate the milestone.

Thus, the 2025 edition will feature five African countries, five fashion brands and five musical performances; it will run for five days, from December 10 to 14, making it the most extensive ABF experience ever.

The launch event generated excitement and anticipation for what promises to be the biggest edition yet.

With the fifth anniversary celebration, the Five Theme experience, and the Accra tour plan, ABF 2025 is set to deliver an unforgettable blend of culture, sport, and national pride from December 10 to 14 at the UG basketball court.
