GOC President urges Black Rockets to stay focused after championship success

President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Richard Akpokavie Esq., has called on the Black Rockets, Ghana’s national youth boxing team, to remain focused and avoid complacency following their outstanding performance at the African Youth Amateur Boxing Championship in Conakry, Guinea.
At a brief medal presentation ceremony held at the Olympic House on Wednesday, May 28, team members Desmond Pappoe (middleweight, 75kg), George Nii Nortey Dowuona (bantamweight, 54kg), and Mathias Ashitey (flyweight, 51kg) proudly presented their gold medals to President Akpokavie.
During the event, President Akpokavie stressed the importance of humility and continued dedication, stating,
" Do not think you have arrived. Prove this success is no fluke through hard work."
He encouraged the young boxers to maintain their focus and continue striving for excellence, particularly as they prepare for the upcoming Youth Olympics in Angola this December.
