The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has urged the Ghana Black Stars to draw lessons from their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign and remain focused on future assignments following their Round of 32 defeat to Colombia national football team.

Speaking to the team after the match at Kansas City Stadium, Adams commended the players for their performance despite the elimination.

He said Ghana had shown they were capable of competing at the highest level and progressing beyond the group stage in future tournaments, noting that the team had demonstrated quality on the pitch.

The minister, however, urged the squad to treat their mistakes during the tournament as key learning points.

He stressed that the experience should strengthen the players individually and collectively, adding that the outcome should not discourage them ahead of future competitions.

Mr Adams also reinforced the team-first approach emphasised by head coach Carlos Queiroz, saying national duty remains ongoing despite the World Cup exit.

He reminded the players that they will be called up again for upcoming assignments, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Addressing potential public criticism, the Minister encouraged the players to avoid being distracted by social media commentary, urging them instead to use feedback as motivation to improve.

He expressed gratitude to the squad for their service to the nation, stating that their efforts at the tournament were appreciated despite the exit.
