Kotoko coach sets group stage target in CAF Confederation Cup
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says the club’s immediate ambition in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup is to reach the group stage, which he described as the “money zone.”
The Porcupine Warriors will open their continental campaign this weekend when they face Nigeria’s Kwara United in the first leg of their preliminary round tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Zito called on supporters to rally behind the team as they chase success on the African stage.
“Going into Africa is not easy, so I am pleading with the fans to stay united and support the team,” he said.
“I played and won Africa, so I will be happy to win this tournament.
But it must start with the fans coming together.
The target is to get into the money zone, but we must first win the game against Kwara United.”
The first leg is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, with the return fixture to be played a week later on September 28 in Nigeria.
