Committee being inaugurated by the Minister

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr. Kofi Adams, has officially inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Zone 3 African Club Volleyball Championship, slated for March 2026.

The ceremony, held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, marked an important milestone in preparations for hosting a world-class competition.

The LOC is chaired by Dr. Austin W. Luguterah, with Mr. Emmanuel A. Quainoo serving as Secretary.

Mr Bernard Mornah joins the team as Ex-Officio Member, while Mr. Bawa Iddrisu takes charge as Technical Director.

Mr. Haroun Apaw Wiredu (Deputy Managing Director, Metro Mass Transit) – Transport Lead

Mr. Mohammed Aputeog – Protocol & Ceremonies

Mr. Bernard A. Lartey – Budget & Finance

Mr. Yaw Sakyi – Marketing, Public Engagement, Logistics & Operations

Mr. George Lomotey – Broadcasting

Madam Farida Iddriss and Mr. George Lomotey – Joint Heads of Hospitality

COP Iddi Lansah Seidu – Security

Capt. George Nbuno Asabia – Medical & Safety Coordinator

Mr. Henry Nii Sackey – Volunteers & Human Resource Sub-committee Lead

In his address, Mr. Adams underscored the critical role of the LOC in delivering a well-organised and impactful tournament. He urged members to build on the solid groundwork laid by the volleyball federation and to strengthen collaborations and partnerships that would ensure smooth planning and execution.

The Minister further charged the committee to spearhead publicity efforts, enhance public engagement, and generate widespread enthusiasm for the championship.

He noted that volleyball has the potential to unite communities and spotlight regional talent, making the event a celebration of both sport and solidarity.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment.

Mr. Adams pledged full support for the committee’s work and encouraged members to uphold excellence and transparency throughout the process.

He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver an event that will not only meet international standards but also leave a lasting legacy for volleyball development in the region.

With the LOC officially inaugurated, preparations are set to intensify ahead of the 2026 championship, which promises to highlight the vibrancy, skill, and unity of Zone 3 volleyball.
