Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has joined hands with key stakeholders to unearth and develop young football talents in the constituency.

The exercise, held in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kasoa Promising Star, and Promising Rising Star, was designed not only to scout emerging footballers but also to mentor the youth and educate them on the dangers of drug abuse.

The project received funding support from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

Speaking at the event, Miss Okunor expressed her commitment to turning Kasoa into a hub of youth development.

“Together, we are providing real opportunities for our youth.

Kasoa has the potential to become a true centre of growth and development, and this is one of the many steps we are taking to make that vision a reality,” she said.

The MP was joined by the Municipal Chief Executive of Awutu Senya East, Mr. Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini, and the constituency’s NDC Vice Chairman, Mr. Osman Abdulai, who both commended the initiative and pledged support for similar youth-centred programmes.

Community leaders and parents also applauded the project, describing it as a timely intervention to channel the energies of the youth into positive ventures, particularly football, which remains one of Ghana’s most promising industries.

The programme is expected to serve as a springboard for young footballers in Kasoa, offering them pathways to professional opportunities while reinforcing education and discipline.
