The National Sports Authority (NSA) has suspended all boxing activities in Ghana following the tragic death of 27-year-old rising boxer Ernest Akushey, popularly known in boxing circles as Bahubali.

The decision was reportedly announced by the Director-General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, in response to growing safety concerns within the sport.

Bahubali’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s boxing fraternity, sparking calls for stricter medical protocols and improved safety standards in both professional and amateur bouts.

The NSA’s suspension is expected to pave the way for investigations into the circumstances surrounding the boxer’s death, as well as a review of safety measures for athletes.

Further details, including the duration of the suspension and possible reforms, are expected to be announced in the coming days.
