Najeeb Yakubu accuses Kurt Okraku of sabotaging his national team career
Niger international and former Ghana youth player, Najeeb Yakubu, has accused Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku of sabotaging his career with the Black Meteors.
Yakubu claims that Okraku deliberately blocked his inclusion in the national squad in 2021 by ensuring his passport was left out of the required documents for a trip to Japan, thus preventing him from participating in a tournament with the team.
Yakubu attributes this alleged sabotage to a personal grievance, revealing that Okraku had approached him to join his club, Dreams FC, during his time with Ghana’s U-17 team.
According to Yakubu, he declined the offer, and he believes Okraku took this refusal personally, leading to his exclusion from the national team.
“When I was in the U-17, he [Kurt Okraku] wanted me to join his team, Dreams FC.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t join his team, and he took it personally,” Yakubu said in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM.
