Women's FA Cup trophy goes on tour to Police & Army Headquarters
As part of the build-up to the Women’s FA Cup final, the organizing committee will embark on a trophy tour to the headquarters’ of the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces, whose teams will be competing in the final match.
Officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will join the Women’s FA Cup Committee as they present the trophy to the top hierarchies of the Police Service and the Armed Forces, respectively.
The tour will begin with a visit to the Police Headquarters on Thursday, May 30, 2024 before a visit to the Army Headquarters in Burma Camp.
The top brass of the Police Service and Ghana Army officials will be invited to attend the first-ever clash between security services in a cup final, and discussions will be held on matters of mutual interest to Ghana Football.
The trophy tour will also provide an opportunity for the two finalists, Army Ladies and Police Ladies, to see the magnificent trophy ahead of the June 8 showdown at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Police Ladies, who won the inaugural Women's FA Cup trophy in 2016, defeated Supreme 3-1 to earn a spot in the championship game of this season.
The Army Ladies had it tough against Division One side Epiphany Warriors before grabbing a 2:1 extra-time victory to propel them into this year’s final.
The Women’s FA Cup will be the opening match of the upcoming Women's Football Festival’s double-header, which will be staged at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on June 8.
The game will kick off at 4pm.
