Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticised the government’s handling of social support programmes and tax policies, saying the approach lacks clarity, consistency, and effective coordination.

Speaking at a parliamentary leadership briefing ahead of the House’s reopening, Mr. Afenyo-Markin noted that several government initiatives were already showing signs of strain by the end of 2025, highlighting broader weaknesses in policy implementation.

He added that while the governing party had previously been highly critical of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when in opposition, nearly a year into office, there has been limited evidence of meaningful policy innovation or departure.

The Minority Leader urged the government to develop and communicate a well-defined policy agenda, particularly in taxation and economic expansion, to ensure tangible results across key sectors of the economy.

He emphasised that stronger policy direction and coordination are essential to building public confidence and achieving sustainable economic growth.
