Presidential candidate and Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has committed to eliminating import taxes on spare parts within two years if entrusted with the leadership of the country in the upcoming general election.

Kyeremanten emphasised that the cost of spare parts significantly contributes to transportation expenses, thereby impacting the overall cost of living for Ghanaians.

According to Mr Kyerematen, reducing transportation costs will alleviate the financial burden on citizens, curb food inflation, and stimulate economic growth.

During his Accra Markets Tour on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, Kyeremanten engaged with traders at Abosey Okai in the Greater Accra region, where he unveiled his plan to overhaul Ghana’s tax system, reducing the nation’s dependency on import duties.

By slashing import taxes on spare parts and other essential items, Kyeremanten envisions a scenario where citizens experience relief, businesses flourish, and the tax base expands, ultimately leading to increased government revenue.

Assuring Ghanaians, particularly traders, of his empathy for their challenges, Kyeremanten urged them to cast their votes overwhelmingly in his favour to catalyze a positive transformation in the country’s fortunes.

Highlighting his track record as a proven leader and results-oriented professional, Kyeremanten drew parallels to his recognition in the 1990s as one of the 100 most influential individuals poised to shape the new millennium, alongside luminaries like Bill Gates.
