Azumah Resources, E&P reaches agreement over Black Volta Gold mine dispute-Minister

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, has announced that a conclusive agreement has been reached between Azumah Resources and Engineers & Planners (E&P) over the protracted dispute concerning the Black Volta Gold Mine.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, the Minister described the resolution as a significant milestone that reflects the parties’ commitment to cooperation and the national interest.
It will be recalled that the Minister, in a strongly-worded letter dated Thursday, July 10, 2025, urged both companies to amicably settle the impasse within seven days, warning that the government would be compelled to intervene if no resolution was reached.
“I am pleased to report that both Azumah Resources and Engineers & Planners have shown commendable restraint, maturity, and a renewed spirit of partnership in addressing the matter,” Mr. Kofi-Buah said.
The Minister expressed optimism that the agreement will now pave the way for the full-scale development and operation of the Black Volta Gold Mine, which is expected to contribute significantly to Ghana’s mineral sector and local economic development.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that disputes within the extractive sector are resolved through dialogue and mutual respect, while safeguarding the interests of the state and affected communities.
