Bernard Owusu elected TUC-Ghana's new chairman
Bernard Owusu has been elected as the new Chairman of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana.
This follows Mr. Owusu’s victory in the union's latest leadership election.
Previously serving as the National Chairman of the General Transport Petroleum Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU), Mr. Owusu garnered 347 votes, unseating the incumbent Chairman, Alex Opoku-Nyarko, who was vying for another term.
Mr. Owusu’s election signals a major shift in the leadership of Ghana's largest labuor organisation, with members showing strong support for his vision and leadership capabilities.
His new role will involve steering the TUC through critical issues affecting workers across the country, as the union continues to play a key role in shaping labor policies and advocating for workers' rights.
Also, the Deputy Secretary General Joshua Ansah has been elevated to the position of substantive Secretary General, taking over from Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah.
