The Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency in the Volta Region, Mr Edem Agbana, has launched the Care 2 North Skills and Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at empowering young people in the constituency.

The programme will provide fully funded apprenticeships to 207 young men and women, selected from the Georgia and Fernie zones.

The initiative is designed to support young people who are unable to afford apprenticeship fees, and will provide them with skills to earn a living and achieve economic freedom.

The beneficiaries will receive tools, financial support, and a cash incentive to help them settle into their apprenticeships.

Mr Agbana stated that the programme is part of his vision to build a constituency that cares for all, and is targeted at the needy, school dropouts, and single parents.

The programme is sustainable, with a projected five-year plan, and is expected to benefit 500 young people annually.

The programme was inspired by President Mahama's National Apprenticeship Programme, but is uniquely designed to allow beneficiaries to choose their trade and master craftsmen.

The National Youth Authority has provided technical expertise and support, and will provide machines to some trainees after completion.

Mr Agbana expressed gratitude to the master craftsmen and women who have committed to training the apprentices, and urged them to teach the young people values and virtues to succeed in life.
