The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of Directors for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), calling on the members to take decisive action to address long-standing operational challenges facing the utility provider.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Accra, Mr. Jinapor underscored the importance of NEDCo’s role in the national energy supply chain, particularly in northern Ghana. He tasked the new board with focusing on three key priorities: improving revenue mobilisation, enhancing customer education, and ensuring consistent power supply across its operational zones.

“NEDCo remains a critical player in Ghana’s energy distribution framework.

As board members, your leadership must bring about meaningful change. You are expected to strengthen revenue collection systems, drive effective customer engagement, and most importantly, ensure that the lights are kept on at all times,” he stated.

The Minister also urged the board to ensure a harmonious working relationship between NEDCo’s management and its staff union, stressing that internal cohesion was vital to operational efficiency and service delivery.

Responding on behalf of the board, the newly appointed Chairman, Mr. Cletus Seidu Dapilah expressed appreciation to the President for the confidence reposed in them.

He assured the Minister and the public that the board was committed to transforming NEDCo into a model utility company under Ghana’s evolving energy landscape.

“We are fully aware of the task ahead.

My colleagues and I are committed to working diligently with all stakeholders to position NEDCo as a leading example of excellence and innovation in the utility sector, especially within the framework of the new energy transition agenda,” the Chairman said.
