Finance Minister inaugurates GoldBod Tribunal Committee

The Gold Board Tribunal Committee has been officially inaugurated at the Ministry of Finance, with Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson swearing in its first leadership team.
The ad-hoc tribunal, created under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, is mandated to hear appeals arising from decisions of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), including licensing matters and cases handled by the Dispute Resolution Committee.
Biadala Mortey Akpadzi was sworn in as Chairperson, alongside members Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah.
Their rulings will carry the same binding force as judgments of the High Court, though appeals may be taken to the Court of Appeal.
In his remarks, Dr. Forson underscored the tribunal’s importance in ensuring transparency and due process in the gold sector.
He urged the leadership to uphold the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in executing their mandate.
The Gold Board Tribunal is a non-permanent body convened as required.
Its composition—one chairperson with legal or substantial gold industry expertise and two members with relevant knowledge in minerals, mining law, or commerce—reflects its focus on balanced, expert adjudication.
Key functions include:
Reviewing appeals against GoldBod decisions, particularly licensing issues.
Ensuring a transparent, fair process for aggrieved parties.
Delivering rulings legally equivalent to High Court judgments
Chairperson: Biadala Mortey Akpadzi
