President Mahama in Japan for TICAD 9

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Japan to participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled to take place in Yokohama from August 20–22, 2025.
TICAD, first launched in 1993, is a major international platform dedicated to promoting Africa’s development.
It is spearheaded by the Government of Japan and co-organized with the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the World Bank.
President Mahama is expected to join other African leaders, development partners, and global stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating sustainable growth, strengthening peace and security, and deepening partnerships between Africa and Japan.
The conference will also focus on trade, investment, innovation, and human capital development, areas seen as critical for Africa’s transformation.
Ghana’s delegation is expected to use the platform to showcase opportunities in sectors such as energy, agriculture, digital innovation, and green transition, while reinforcing the country’s commitment to regional integration and inclusive growth.
