Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has welcomed an International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission team led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan as Ghana begins the Fifth Review of its IMF-supported programme.

Speaking at the opening session, Dr. Forson reflected on the country’s economic journey, noting that despite beginning the year with significant challenges, progress has been made in stabilising key indicators.

“We began the year with many challenges, but together we have been able to steady the tide and make significant progress. While we acknowledge that risks remain, we are committed to doing all we can to address them,” he stated.

The Minister added that the ongoing review provides Ghana with an opportunity to receive “valuable feedback” on the measures implemented so far to restore economic stability and strengthen growth.

Dr. Atoyan, leader of the IMF delegation, expressed optimism about the engagement, noting that his team looks forward to the review process in the coming days.

The Fifth Review forms part of Ghana’s programme under the IMF, aimed at consolidating macroeconomic stability, enhancing fiscal responsibility, and boosting confidence in the economy.
