Fuel prices rise as Oil Marketing Companies announce new pump rates
Motorists across Ghana are set to pay more for petrol and diesel following fresh price adjustments announced by major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
The new pump prices, which took effect under the latest pricing window, have seen the cost of petroleum products increase at several filling stations, reversing the recent period of price stability.
The upward adjustment is attributed to a combination of factors, including fluctuations in international crude oil prices, movements in the exchange rate and prevailing market conditions within the downstream petroleum sector.
While the exact prices vary among OMCs, consumers are expected to experience higher fuel costs nationwide as companies implement their revised pricing structures.
The latest increase is expected to have a ripple effect on the economy, with transport operators, businesses and households likely to feel the impact. Analysts say sustained increases in fuel prices could push up the cost of transportation and contribute to higher prices for goods and services.
Consumers are encouraged to compare prices at different filling stations, as pump rates may differ from one OMC to another.
The new pricing marks another adjustment in Ghana's deregulated petroleum market, where fuel prices are reviewed periodically based on developments in both local and international markets.
