GIFEC Board inaugurated

The Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, on Wednesday, 22 September 2021, inaugurated the governing board of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).
GIFEC, one of the agencies of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, has been designated by law (the Electronic Communications Act 2008, Act 775), as the Universal Service Fund for Electronic Communications of Ghana.
GIFEC is mandated to provide financial resources for the establishment of universal service and access for all communities, and also facilitate the provision of basic telephony, internet service, multimedia service, broadband and broadcasting services to these communities.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful noted that this is an onerous task and the Board of Trustees have, therefore, been carefully selected.
She said she is encouraged by the diverse backgrounds and experience of the team and has no doubt that together, they will deliver and achieve the goals of GIFEC and the government.
