Labadi Beach Hotel MD: "Stealing in the hospitality industry can only be minimized''

The Managing Director (MD) of Labadi Beach Hotel, Mr. David Eduaful, has acknowledged that theft in the hospitality industry is an ongoing challenge that cannot be completely eradicated but can be minimized through stringent security measures.
Speaking in an interview with Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) on CTV’s MASTER of the GAME, Mr. Eduaful emphasized that both employees and guests are sometimes involved in theft, making it a major concern for hotel management.
“You can’t stop stealing in the industry, but you can minimize it,” he stated.
“As a human institution, there will always be individuals attempting to steal, and this poses a serious disincentive to the industry.
However, when such incidents are detected, the culprits are handed over to the police to serve as a deterrent.”
He further revealed that theft is not limited to staff members, as some guests have also been caught stealing hotel property, including towels, irons, and other items.
“Some people just have stealing in their DNA,” he remarked.
Mr. Eduaful stressed that Labadi Beach Hotel, Ghana's foremost five-star hotel prioritizes security, ensuring that strict measures are in place to curb theft.
“At Labadi, security is top-notch, and anyone caught stealing is immediately handed over to the police,” he added.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining strong security protocols in Ghana’s hospitality industry to protect businesses from losses and maintain service quality.
