NPA boss calls on IGP to seek collaboration to fight fuel diversions

The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, on Wednesday led a delegation to the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service to pay a courtesy call on the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
The visit was aimed at congratulating the IGP on his appointment and reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the NPA and the Ghana Police Service.
During the engagement, Mr. Tameklo appealed to the IGP for stronger collaboration in tackling fuel diversions, particularly in connection with illegal mining operations (galamsey), which have increasingly become linked to illicit fuel use.
“We believe that deepening our collaboration with the Police Service is critical in curbing fuel-related crimes, especially those that undermine our efforts against galamsey,” the NPA CEO said.
IGP Yohuno, in response, expressed his appreciation for the visit and assured the NPA of the Police Service’s full support in addressing fuel diversions and other downstream petroleum sector crimes.
He reiterated the importance of maintaining and enhancing the strategic partnership between the two institutions.
The visit ended with a mutual commitment to sustain inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding Ghana’s energy sector and the environment
