The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Virginia Palmer, former United States Ambassador to Ghana, as part of efforts to strengthen ties between Ghana and the United States in the energy sector.

Mr. Tameklo was accompanied by key officials from the NPA, including Deputy Chief Executives Dr. Sheila Addo and Dr. Dramani Bukari, Mr. Kodwo Abbiw Jackson, Director of Administration and Insurance, and Mrs. Genevieve Bissue, Head of Protocol and Logistics.

The visit, which marks an important early step in Mr. Tameklo’s tenure, aimed at reinforcing strategic partnerships with the U.S. Embassy and fostering mutually beneficial collaborations between both nations.

In his remarks, Mr. Tameklo underscored the significance of deepening Ghana–U.S. relations, particularly in the downstream petroleum sector.

He cited the fruitful partnership with Authentix, a U.S.-based company that supports the NPA’s fuel authentication programme, as a model of successful cooperation.

The programme, he explained, is critical in ensuring fuel quality, preventing adulteration, and safeguarding government revenue through accurate tax collection.

Ambassador Palmer welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Ghana in attracting American investment, enhancing the energy sector, and promoting bilateral cooperation.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both nations to advancing energy security and innovation.

It also signalled renewed momentum toward collaborative projects that will contribute to Ghana’s economic growth and global energy presence.
