No immediate reduction in transport fares despite fuel price drop - GPRTU
The recent reduction in fuel prices has sparked expectations among commuters of a corresponding reduction in transport fares.
However, the Industrial Relationship Officer, of the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU), Alhaji Abass Imoro has clarified that fare increments and reductions are not solely dependent on fuel prices.
According to him, other factors such as spare parts costs also influence fare adjustments.
While acknowledging the slight reduction in fuel prices, Mr. Abass noted that prices of other components remain unchanged, however, commuters are advised to adjust to the current fare regime.
The GPRTU has assured that any further reduction in fuel prices will be considered in determining transport fares.
