Identical twins and Afrofusion performers Patricia Delali Dake (Lali) and Trysha Wolali Dake (Lola), known simply as Lali x Lola, have asserted they are the answer to Ghana's desire for "a new sound".

The ladies spoke to Class News' Prince Benjamin (PB) at the close of their maiden live performance, August 19, 2023, at Shield Lounge, Spintex Road.

On their music viewed in the larger context of Ghana music, the twins said their “sound is unique”.

“And I feel like Ghanaians are ready for a new sound, something different from all the rest. So we feel like we’re the it. Twins who can dance, sing, and are fresh and unique, and have the energy and I think that’s what we offer,” Lali said.

When asked which music figures inspire them, the girls answered “a lot of people” in unison.

Alternating, they named: “Yemi Alade, Tems, Asa, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Black Sherif, Gyakie”.

“A lot of different things, even the Western R&B vibes,” Lali added. “So a bunch of different things.”

A day before the weekend's performance, Lali x Lola released their second extended play (EP) called Journii Begins with six songs. Produced by their brother Rappidd, the EP's sole guest is Nigeria's Jaya.

The Journii Begins EP Live Concert was hugely attended.
