Shatta Wale granted GH₵10m bail after EOCO detention

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has been granted bail in the sum of GH₵10 million following his detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over an ongoing investigation into a luxury Lamborghini Urus.
The musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., was picked up by EOCO in connection with the alleged theft of the vehicle, which authorities believe is linked to proceeds from an international fraud scheme.
The car was impounded earlier this month in a joint operation between EOCO and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In a statement, Shatta Wale’s management confirmed that the artist was released on bail and assured fans that his legal team is working closely with the authorities.
“Shatta Wale has been granted bail in the sum of GH₵10 million.
Discussions with EOCO are ongoing, and the legal process is being followed diligently,” the statement read.
The management also appealed to the “SM Family” fan base to remain calm and avoid speculation as the case progresses.
The EOCO’s action was carried out under the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804) and the Mutual Legal Assistance Act, 2010 (Act 807), which empower the office to seize assets suspected to be linked to criminal activity, even if the alleged offence occurred outside Ghana.
The case has sparked widespread debate, with many fans and social commentators closely watching developments as the high-profile investigation unfolds.
