'Sika': Okyeame Kwame, Kofi Kinaata surprise fans with avant-garde Highlife tune
Rappers Okyeame Kwame and Kofi Kinaata have released their first collaboration.
Generally, the celebratory song marks the end of a hustler's struggles; a buttress to the saying: "The labourer is worthy of his wages."
While Okyeame Kwame uses the verses to bemoan life on the unforgiving streets of the city, enduring harsh living conditions and health-ruining work, as he looks for money and love, Kofi Kinaata insists on the chorus he will answer to no one concerning the fun and luxury he enjoys with his hard-earned money.
The single titled Sika, meaning money in English, is a shape-shifting offering produced by the prolific DatBeatGod.
Equal parts Highlife, Hiplife and Kumerian Drill, the song asserts Ghana's musical prominence, both in history and in contemporary times.
Okyeame Kwame, a versatile music legend, and Kofi Kinaata, a revered songwriter and storyteller, were simultaneously appointed Ambassadors for the International Coconut Festival by Ghana Export Promotions Authority (GEPA) and Africa Coconut Group in 2019.
