Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has joined students, parents and staff of the New Horizon Special School to usher in the festive season at the school’s Nativity Play and Carols Night, describing the event as inspiring and deeply fulfilling.
The Vice President commended the students for their outstanding performances, which she said were marked by passion, confidence and genuine talent.
She noted that the joy and creativity displayed by the children highlighted the importance of recognising and nurturing the abilities of every child, regardless of physical or intellectual challenges.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang used the occasion to underscore the need for inclusive education, stressing that every child has potential and deserves an educational system that focuses on abilities rather than limitations.
She also expressed delight at products showcased from the school’s vocational training programme, describing them as a clear demonstration that talent exists everywhere when the right opportunities and support systems are provided.
The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting dignity and opportunity for differently abled persons, noting that the students are citizens whose contributions are vital to national development.
She extended her appreciation to parents, teachers, caregivers, the school’s management and board for their dedication to creating a supportive environment where children with special needs can learn, express themselves and thrive.
The event brought together families and well-wishers in a celebration of inclusion, talent and the true spirit of the Christmas season.
