AfCFTA game-changer for trade, investment in Africa, diaspora and beyond: President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has underscored Ghana’s pivotal role as the headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing the initiative as a game-changer for trade and investment across the continent and beyond.
Speaking during a meeting with Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, President Mahama said the AfCFTA provided a powerful platform for strengthening economic cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean.
“With over 50 countries ratifying the agreement, it allows duty-and-quota-free trade across Africa,” he explained.
“This presents a great opportunity for African and Caribbean businesses to collaborate and tap into a market of 1.3 billion people with a combined GDP of over $3 trillion.”
He urged stronger partnerships between African and Caribbean business communities to foster shared growth, investment, and innovation.
Concluding his remarks, President Mahama said he looked forward to paying a reciprocal visit to Grenada, expressing optimism that such an engagement would further consolidate the growing partnership between the two nations.
