A crowd in Alajo gathers to witness the retrieval of a person dead due to flooding and electrocution

Heavy flooding has submerged the Caprice stretch from Alajo through Avenor to Circle in Accra, leaving major roads impassable and raising serious safety concerns.

Two fuel stations along the flooded stretch have been engulfed by floodwaters, with fuel reportedly mixing into the water.

The situation has created a strong smell of petrol across the area, while fuel is visible on sections of the floodwater, heightening fears of fire hazards and environmental contamination.

Authorities are urging motorists and residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has retrieved a second body from the same house at Alajo after two people were allegedly electrocuted as floodwaters swept through parts of the community.

The incident occurred during Monday's heavy rains, which triggered widespread flooding across sections of Accra.

Alajo and Caprice, two adjacent communities, remain among the worst-hit areas as emergency responders continue rescue and assessment operations.

Authorities are yet to provide further details on the electrocution incident or the extent of damage caused by the flooding.
