Dapaah gifts Adom FM intern chocolate after Multimedia visit, apology

News
The Multimedia Group and one of its business units, Adom FM, on Wednesday, 25 July 2019 visited the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah in her office, to apologise for a recent publication by one of its interns, Ms Rahinatu Abdul Bach, which attracted public opprobrium against the politician.

The delegation was led by Mr A. C. Ohene, the senior editor of Adom FM.

Ms Bach had written an article about how the minister rudely told her off when she rang for an interview on the orders of her editor.

The voice recording of the phone fracas found its way on social media.

Subsequently, Mrs Dapaah hinted at dragging the Multimedia Group to the National Media Commission (NMC) and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to seek redress.

During the delegation’s visit, Mr Ohene stated that the incident was an error on the part of the Multimedia Group and Adom FM and assured Mrs Dapaah that they have put in place measures to forestall such mishaps.

The Acting Chief Director of the ministry, Mr Joseph Obeng-Poku, used the opportunity to explain that at the time the intern placed the call to the minister, he was with her in a meeting and that the minister sounded courteous, and, therefore, expressed befuddlement that the station took the minister on for allegedly being disrespectful.

Mrs Dapaah accepted the apology and indicated her preparedness to continue to work with journalists for the good of Ghana.

Mr Ohene reiterated that the Multimedia Group has learnt a lot of lessons from the incident and would work hard to ensure strict adherence to its time-tested protocols.

He said an apology to the minister had already been published on both Myjoyonline.com and Adomfmonline.com.

The intern, Ms Rahinatu Abdul Bach, who was part of the delegation, indicated her admiration for the minister, adding that she considered her as a role model and, therefore, regretted the incident. She, accordingly, rendered an apology to the minister, who in return offered Ms Rahinatu a box of chocolate.
