More than 500 amputees in the Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have received free artificial limbs in an initiative aimed at restoring mobility, dignity, and economic independence for Persons With Disabilities(PWDs).

The project, led by the Ishk Tolaram Foundation in partnership with the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) and the Ghana Federation of Disability (GFD), marks the foundation’s first intervention in Ghana.

Speaking at the presentation, Madam Tomin Bello, Communications Officer of the Ishk Tolaram Foundation, said the initiative was designed to empower amputees to live more dignified and fulfilling lives.

She added that the foundation looks forward to expanding its support through collaboration with relevant authorities and stakeholders in the country.

Beneficiaries, many of whom had lived without prosthetic limbs for years due to financial constraints, expressed profound gratitude.

They described the donation as life-changing, noting that it had given them renewed confidence and the ability to participate more actively in society.

The intervention is expected to significantly improve the social and economic inclusion of Persons With Disabilities in the municipality.
