GES bans 3 schools in Eastern Region for sports-related activities
The Ghana Education Service's Regional Office in Koforidua has imposed a two‑year ban, effective 11th February 2026, on Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SETECH), New Juaben Senior High School (NJUASEC), and New Nsutam Senior High Technical School (NSUTECH) from organising or taking part in any sporting activities, quizzes, debates, cadetting or entertainments.
The prohibition stems from acts of hooliganism and violence during the Eastern Region Super Zonal Sports Competition, which breached GES Code of Conduct 2.17 (Physical and Psychological Violence) and ERSCSA Code of Discipline Articles VII (Disturbances / Riots / Hooliganisms) and VIII (Sanctions / Punishments).
Each affected school will be fined five hundred Ghana cedis (GhS500.00) and must cover the cost of any property or individual damage/injury, the amount to be set by a review committee.
Regional Director Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu (PhD) calls on the schools’ students, staff, alumni and supporters to strictly follow GES and ERSCSA regulations to prevent additional disciplinary measures
