Ghana’s Interior Minister holds bilateral talks with Turkish counterpart in Ankara
Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has paid a working visit to his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, in Ankara, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The high-level meeting, held in the capital of Turkey, focused on deepening bilateral relations and enhancing collaboration in key areas, including emergency response systems, national security, and migration management.
Discussions between the two Ministers covered a broad range of security concerns such as disaster management, organised crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, and irregular migration.
Both sides explored practical mechanisms for knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and technical cooperation to improve institutional responses to emerging threats.
The engagement forms part of Ghana’s broader strategy to reinforce international partnerships in tackling transnational crimes and improving internal security frameworks.
Mr. Muntaka was accompanied by the Controller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu; the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), COP Gabriel Prince Waabu; as well as officials from the Ministry of the Interior and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
The visit is expected to pave the way for strengthened institutional collaboration between Ghana and Turkey in areas of mutual interest.
