IGP Dampare’s personal interest in Kotoko fan murder case impressive - Sports Minister
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed admiration for the personal interest Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has shown in the ongoing investigation into the murder of an Asante Kotoko football fan.
He noted that while the IGP’s involvement is commendable, it is crucial that the matter is pursued to its logical conclusion.
Kofi Adams assured the public that the case would not be reduced to mere public statements and initial actions.
He emphasised that the government remains committed to ensuring that justice is served.
"So far I’m impressed with the interest the IGP has personally shown in this matter. We are not going to leave this matter to comments and initial actions. The police have made arrests and are conducting investigations and prosecutions," he stated.
He further stressed that no one would be shielded from accountability, regardless of their social or political status.
Mr Adams reiterated that the Mahama administration upholds the rule of law and will not condone any criminal conduct.
"We are not going to shield anybody, regardless of your status in society. When crime is involved, nobody is above the law," he asserted.
The minister’s remarks come at a time when public interest in the case remains high, with many calling for swift and decisive action.
Authorities have assured that thorough investigations will be conducted to ensure that those responsible for the tragic incident are brought to justice.
