The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has sanctioned a wide-ranging reorganisation of the senior command structure of the Ghana Police Service, with the changes taking effect immediately.

An official statement on the postings indicates that several Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) have been redeployed to new roles as part of measures to strengthen leadership and improve operational performance within the Service.

Among the notable adjustments, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba has been moved from the Technology Directorate to head the National Arms and Ammunition Directorate (NAPD), while COP Iddi Lansah Seidu transitions from overseeing Welfare to leading the Technology Directorate.

In another key shift, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has been reassigned from Operations to take charge of Research and Planning, as COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe moves from the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to assume responsibility for Operations. DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey has also been transferred from Research and Planning to head the PPSB, with DCOP Eric Ken Winful relocating from NAPD to the Welfare Directorate.

The shake-up further extends to regional and specialised units. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been appointed Eastern Sector Regional Commander, while DCOP Isaac Asante moves from the Eastern Region to the Police Headquarters. DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi has been named Central Regional Commander, and DCOP George Ankomah takes over as Eastern North Regional Commander after leaving his role at Central MTTD/AR.

Additionally, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, previously Director of ICT at the National Headquarters, has been placed in charge of Central MTTD/AR.

According to the IGP, the redeployments form part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing command effectiveness, boosting operational efficiency, and improving service delivery across the Police Service.
