Judicial Service staff declare indefinite strike over eight-month allowance arrears
Members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) have declared an indefinite strike action, effective Monday, January 19, 2026, over the non-payment of eight months’ allowance arrears.
According to the Association, the unpaid allowances cover the period from January to August 2025, and repeated engagements with the appropriate authorities have failed to yield results.
In a statement announcing the decision, JUSAG said the strike would remain in force until the full payment of the outstanding arrears is made.
The Association explained that the prolonged delay has placed severe financial strain on its members, affecting their welfare and morale.
The industrial action is expected to disrupt judicial activities across the country, as court clerks, registrars and other administrative staff withdraw their services.
JUSAG urged the government and relevant stakeholders to treat the matter with urgency to avoid further disruption to the justice delivery system.
The Association stressed that its members are committed to their duties but can no longer endure the continued delay in meeting agreed financial obligations.
