The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has closed its Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi, instructing applicants to use regional passport offices for their services.

In a public notice dated February 23, 2026, the ministry said the shutdown took effect on February 20, 2026.

According to the statement, applicants — especially those with pending requests at the affected premium facilities — should proceed to the Regional Passport Application Centres to continue processing their documents. Clients may also contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302-754-200 for support.

The ministry did not provide reasons for the closure but reiterated its commitment to maintaining quality public service.

With the change, individuals who previously relied on the premium centres for faster processing will now have to channel their applications through the standard regional system while seeking clarification where necessary.

Additional details on the transition process are yet to be announced.
